Corps news in brief – Embassy 16 – April 2009

US Embassy unveils new site

Plans for the new US Embassy in Nine Elms received overwhelming approval from local residents, with 91% of respondents to opinion surveys saying the new mission would contribute positively to the regeneration of the surrounding area.

The Embassy submitted an outline planning application to Wandsworth Council last week and has set up a website – www.newusembassy-London.co.uk – as an aid to the public consultation. The planning application proposes a building of between 440,000 sq ft and 540,000 sq ft, along with three entrance pavilions.
