Countdown to Olympics

With heavy demands on the police force during the Olympics, diplomatic missions should not delay making additional security arrangements, Jamie Stephen, former head of the Diplomatic Protection Group, advised diplomats at the Embassy Event Expo.

“My advice to diplomatic missions is to start making additional security preparations now,” said Stephen, who has also advised the Olympic Delivery Authority.

Tony Humphries, the Assistant Director of FCO Protocol in charge of conferences and visits, assured embassy staff that the FCO would be inviting missions to an Olympic briefing soon after the elections and ambassadors would be invited to visit the Olympic site.
