Foreign dignitaries visiting the UK may in future not receive the same level of protection, due to budget cuts at Scotland Yard. Sir Paul Stephenson, the head of Scotland Yard, announced a reassessment of the use of armed police bodyguards for VIPs, which cost an estimated £50 million a year.
