Czechs gear up
The Czech Embassy baked a big birthday cake to celebrate 90 years of statehood. Diplomats, politicians and war veterans joined Ambassador Jan Winkler for the celebrations. Talk centred on how the country is gearing up for the EU Presidency next year and appropriately, a fleet of high-tech low-emission Skodas were parked outside the Embassy – proof of how far the country (and Skodas) have advanced since the Velvet Revolution.
