Diplomats and friends of The Maldives gathered for a traditional Bon’dibaiy (rice pudding) feast to celebrate the first Independence Day of Maldives since the country’s transformation into a multi-party democracy. High Commissioner Farahanaz Faizal welcomed the guests and told them the story of how rice pudding had sustained the democratic movement in Maldives during the long struggle for freedom.
