Caribbean connections
The sounds of steel pan music reverberated through the grand rooms of Marlborough House to welcome guests to the Young Diplomats’ Caribbean Connections party organised in association with the High Commission for St Lucia. Guests turned up in their most colourful gear and were treated to an assortment of rum punch and spirits, courtesy of IDS, to get them in the party spirit. The highlight of the evening was a vibrant parade that came straight from the streets of the Notting Hill Carnival. There were prizes up for grabs too. One lucky guest walked away with a BMW Z4 for a weekend and a seat at the BMW box for the Chelsea-Blackburn game, and another (dressed as James Bond) won a week in the Caribbean. All the proceeds of the event will go towards building a hospital in the Caribbean.
