Arabian nights
The Ambassador of Bahrain, Shaikh Khalifa and his wife Shaikha Mariam always do that little bit extra for their guests. This year, the couple brought the spirit of the Arabian Nights to London for their National Day reception – complete with a live lute player on the desert sand, date palms and heaps of delicious Arabian food. There were even Arabian horses – courtesy of the Ambassador’s sister, Shaikha Fajer Al Khalifa, who held an exhibition featuring figurative paintings of horses as well as
evocative abstracts, the finest of which was given as a gift to HRH The Duke of York.
