Silk Route surprise
The elegant ballroom of the Langham Hotel was infused with the flavours and sounds of Central Asia as guests arrived to join Ambassador Kairat Abusseitov and his wife, Rosa, in toasting Kazakhstan’s Independence. Guests sampled Kazakh fare – lamb dumplings (manti) and doughnuts (baursaki) – while enjoying the music of a traditional dombra.
