Australia Day
It was hardly barbecue weather but High Commissioner John Dauth and his team at Australia House pulled out all the stops to give guests a real Aussie experience on Australia Day, from delicious Australian beef and fish washed down with a few pints of lager or a glass of fine wine. Australian West End star Simon Burke raised the roof with such a powerful rendition of the Australian National anthem it even shattered a glass!
This year marks the 100th anniversary of UK-Australian diplomatic relations which ensured a high VIP count at the reception, including members of the both the cabinet and shadow cabinet, top officials and luminaries from the worlds of business, sport and the arts.
