The Bulgarian Embassy celebrated the passing of the long, dark winter with a reception on a beautiful spring day. Guests were each presented the traditional red and white martenitsa tassel, a symbol of new life and good health, which one is supposed to wear until the first sighting of a stork or a budding tree.
