Party on the Square
Making good use of the warm summer weather, Croatia celebrated their National Day on leafy Fitzroy Square. After a rousing rendition of the National Anthem and folk songs performed by the renowned Croatian singer Jacques Houdek, guests could sample fine Croatian wine and food. As a bonus, Croatia’s exhibit for the London Festival of Architecture was on display a homage to British architect Robert Adam whose travels to Diocletian’s Palace in Split became the inspiration for his neoclassical architecture, some fine examples of which can be seen on Fitzroy Square itself, a stone’s throw from the Croatian Embassy.
