Musicians perform the youtube hit Dokhtar-e Baba (Daddy’s Girl)

Afghanistan’s heart
On the 91st anniversary of Afghanistan’s independence, Ambassador Homayoun Tandar wanted his guests to experience “the real heart of Afghanistan”. Guests were given the full Afghan treatment: tables groaned under the weight of food and feet tapped to lively music.
The highlight was a performance of love songs from Afghanistan’s cultural city, Herat. Introducing the musicians, Ambassador Tandar thanked them for keeping their love of music alive during the dark years, saying they represented Afghanistan’s future.
