High Commissioner Datuk Zakaria Sulong toasts Malaysia’s Independence
Malaysian melting pot
Delicious aromas of Malaysia’s multicultural cuisine greeted the 400 guests who gathered to congratulate the Malaysian High Commissioner Datuk Zakaria Sulong and his wife Datin Hazizah on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of Malaysia’s Independence. Although the High Commissioner is a newcomer in the diplomatic corps, he is not new to London, having served here 15 years ago. In his speech, the High Commissioner explained to his guests how Malaysia had transformed in the intervening years and that it was his job to put his country firmly on the UK radar.
