Strong bonds
Indian High Commissioner Mr Nalin Surie and his wife Poonam welcomed a throng of heavyweight politicians from the cabinet and Houses of Parliament as well as captains of industry, luminaries from the Indian diaspora and diplomats to celebrate India’s National Day with a lavish party at the Grosvenor House Hotel. Keynote addresses from the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government the Rt Hon Mr Eric Pickles, as well as the former Foreign Secretary David Miliband MP were a further indication of the importance the British government places on the strong bond between Britain and India following the recent visit of Prime Minister David Cameron to the country.
