YDL President Marwan Francis awards the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps the YDL Order of the Wooden Spoon
A warm welcome
New young diplomats in London were treated to a warm welcome by the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, the Ambassador of Kuwait Mr Khaled Al Duwaisan at his splendid Residence in Kensington Palace Gardens. President of the YDL, Marwan Francis, presented the Dean with the YDL’s Order of the Spoon, which gives the floor to the holder. The Dean, a veteran of the corps having served in London since 1993, seized the opportunity to give the newcomers invaluable advice on making the most of their posting. He also presented donations to the value of £3000 to two charities supported by the YDL in recent months, Friends of the Commonwealth and St Mungo’s. Then, in the hospitable spirit for which the Dean and his wife Dalal are so well known, he laid on a generous feast his guests.
