The High Commissioner for South Africa Dr Zola Skweyiya greets the Ambassador of Japan Mr Keiichi Hayashi
Freedom Day
The gospel-like sounds of the South African National Anthem, led by the Queen of African jazz Pinise Saul, resounded from South Africa House and out on to Trafalgar Square, where once anti-apartheid activists protested. These days the protesters get to celebrate their freedom inside the High Commission. In his address, High Commissioner Dr Zola Skweyiya pledged to honour the sacrifices of past generations by making a better South Africa. After the speech guests sampled traditional South African fare washed down with fine South African wines, while enjoying a performance by South African soprano Carine Sieberhagen.
