Above and below: Lord Howell and Ambassador Csák stand to attention for the National Anthem and toast the Hungarian Revolution

Revolution remembered
The Ambassador of Hungary Mr János Csák toasted his first celebration of the 1956 Hungarian Revolution in London in the atmospheric circular Great Hall at Church House Westminster in the shadows of Westminster Abbey where the Synod of the Church of England meets. After leading guests in a rousing rendition of the Hungarian National Anthem, the Ambassador and guest of honour, FCO Foreign Minister Lord Howell, both reflected on the courage of those who stood up against Communism in 1956 which marked the start of Hungary’s long journey to rejoining the European family.
