Romania Union Day
Romania’s Union Day was an occasion to reflect on the bonds between the UK and Romania. As a reminder of the familial ties between the two nations, Mrs Jinga wore clothes in the style of Queen Maria of Romania, who herself was an English princess. In his Union Day address Romanian Ambassador Ion Jinga said in addition to the strategic partnership between the UK and Romania, which was stronger than ever, his own bonds with the UK had deepened: “After more than three and a half years here, I can now confess that I needed a first year to understand; after a second year, I started to admire Britain; and after a third year, I discovered that I love Britain.”
