Eritrean children sing the National Anthem

Coming of age
Eritrea celebrated its 21st birthday with a UK-Eritrea friendship forum, hosted by Ambassador Mr Tesfamichael Gerahtu who said Eritrea’s hard-won independence had been marred by a border war and sanctions. Her welcomed the new “constructive engagement” with the UK government and appealed to the UK and EU partners to demand that Ethiopia respect Eritrea’s territorial integrity. A series of talks followed, after which guests enjoyed traditional Eritrean food and music.
