Jaguar Suite at 51 Buckingham Gate

Big cat comforts

Here’s one for the classic car aficionados in the diplomatic corps: 51 Buckingham Gate has unveiled the world’s first Jaguar Suite – an exciting collaboration between two TATA-owned companies, Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces and Jaguar.

The sleek design of this 1,832 square foot, two-bedroom abode alludes to classic and contemporary Jaguar models, from the legendary 1960s E-type to state-of-the art C-X75. Overseen by Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum, the suite features specially-commissioned auto-inspired artwork and displays.

The Jaguar experience starts with sleek wood panelling on the door and Jaguar damask lining the bedroom walls. Intriguing design features include the minimalistic clean-fuel fireplace referencing the shape of the brand’s hallmark rear window; the finest leather that lines the cars; ebony veneer doors; and custom-made Jaguar wallpaper. Jaguar wave motifs and trapeze detailing accompany an array of carefully selected collector’s items that adorn the suite.

For a quintessentially British experience, embassy VIP guests will love this classic cat suite.

Missions can save cash and the planet

International insurer to diplomats Clements Worldwide is encouraging embassies to protect the environment by helping them save money if the join the “green fleet” trend.

According to a recent report, the UK is ranked the 7th highest carbon emitter out of 178 countries. This unfavourable ranking has incentivised many UK public and private organisations to adopt environmentally-friendly practices and now UK-based missions are starting to embrace sustainable practises too.

Many embassies committed to “going green” are considering replacing embassy vehicles with more fuel-efficient alternatives, such as hybrids or electric cars.

The environmental benefits of green fleets are considerable, including lower emissions and fuel consumption as well as being exempt from the congestion charge.

Going green is also good for public diplomacy by contributing to the overall improvement of air quality, which local residents reportedly value quite highly as well.

Although embassies with green fleets save significantly on petrol, there may be other potential cost savings for diplomatic administrators, such as insurance.

For example, Clements Worldwide can help embassies and international organisations take the sting out of going green by providing affordable motor insurance solutions tailored to any type of fleet.

Established in 1947, Clements has extensive experience catering to the unique needs of UK-based embassies. With a dedicated office located in the heart of London, Clements delivers expert insurance solutions with outstanding local customer support.

To learn more about how Clements Worldwide may be of insurance assistance to your embassy or international organisation, visit www.clements.com or call our London office on 020 3009 3380.
