Let the Games begin...
Embassy event planners are bracing themselves for an action-packed year as the 2012 Olympics draws near so it was no surprise that the Embassy Event Expo attracted a record crowd. Almost 200 diplomats and embassy staff from around 100 embassies signed up to find out how their countries could stage events to capitalise on the activities surrounding the biggest sporting event on the planet.

Diplomats were able to network with a range of event suppliers and attended workshops where they heard briefings from FCO Protocol on arrangements for VIP visitors; UKTI on business networking during the Olympics; and the Greater London Authority on plans for the London 2012 Festival.

Guests enjoyed live music throughout the day by artists for From Sweden Productions.

At the end of the busy afternoon, guests were able to unwind at a wine networking reception courtesy of IDS, which included the prize draw where some lucky diplomats walked away with fabulous prizes.
