Australia culls political appointees

CANBERRA – The Labor government of former diplomat Kevin Rudd has begun to replace political appointees from the Howard era with professional diplomats. Foreign Affairs Minister Stephen Smith has announced that long-serving diplomat Libby Schick, will take over as Consul General to Chicago from former Liberal MP Bob Charles.
